Dr. Anjali Karira

Dr. Anjali Karira is a young Consultant Psychiatrist from Mumbai who considers psychiatry to be the only branch which deals with issues beyond basic medical needs. She believes that the scope of psychiatry extends into patient care, interaction with their families, spreading awareness in community and much more. Her areas of interest include Child, Adolescent & Geriatric psychiatry and De-addiction.

Dr. Karira completed her graduation and post graduation from the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College and General Hospital in Sion. She has seven years of clinical practice experience to her credit in addition to her experience as lecturer at Dr. DY Patil Medical College & Hospital. She is the Assistant Honorary Psychiatrist at Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation run Shatabdi Hospital. She is providing her expertise at Bandra, Chembur and Kurla.

She has received training in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Transactional Analysis and Hypnotherapy. 

Dr. Karira follows the practice of unconditional positive regard for her patients and believes in optimizing the individual's coping skills. Her empathy and ability to give real life examples helps clients to achieve their true potential. She relies on psychotherapy sessions and lifestyle changes as much as on psychopharmacology to optimize patient's mental health. Her motto is to spread awareness about psychiatric illness to each stratum of the community and help patients and their families seek help without any stigma. She reaches out to the youth through numerous lectures in schools and colleges on sex education, internet addiction, stress management and others.
